Bamboo Radiance

I have designed a collection of lighting accessories made out of bamboo as a primary material. Bamboo, as we all know, is an exceptionally sustainable resource due to its minimal environmental impact and abundant availability. So yes, we can call it a future material for us designers. I have designed 3 lighting products for my collection of lighting accessories. I took inspiration from the fluid and organic curves of the bamboo leaves for the petal structures. Let me introduce you to the first product: a bedside lamp. This lamp offers diffused lighting, creating a sense of calmness and comfort in the space. The design process involved several ideations, leading to a final product where all parts are detachable for easy maintenance and portability. A mirror is cleverly attached to the top of the stem structure to enhance the light reflection. The second product in my collection is a candle holder. Utilizing the natural structure of bamboo internodes, this holder creates levels, adding visual interest and depth. Sand is applied on the inner surface to protect the material due to its flammability. Lastly, I present to you a small tea light candle holder, perfect for cozy, small space settings. I have also included a few material explorations that helped me further in the process. Each product in this collection follows a consistent form family. In conclusion, my bamboo lighting collection not only showcases the incredible potential of this sustainable material but also offers practical and aesthetically pleasing solutions for modern living spaces.
