NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN

A multidisciplinary designer fascinated by materials, innovation and craft. Not confined to a single domain, I am drawn to every possibility that invites any of the above. My philosophy of ' Designing with a purpose' has always been the motivation behind my work. My interests are all tied up with the larger intent of bringing a positive impact, for people and for the planet in all aspects.

TerraTree

Category: Interior

Competitions: Home Competition 2026

Designed as a material and product intervention addressing human climatic comfort, Terra Tree is a sustainable, low-tech installation that passively cools semi-open urban spaces using natural materials. It harnesses evaporation, porosity, and air circulation to regulate ambient temperatures—offering a sustainable alternative to energy-intensive cooling systems. Beyond temperature control, Terra Tree engages the senses. As water seeps through, it releases the soothing, earthy petrichor-like scent of moist clay—offering psychological comfort in addition to physical relief. It is a context-adaptable installation which can be placed indoors, in balconies and semi-open spaces or in public areas as clustered cooling zones. If installated in large numbers, Terra Tree can help mitigate heat and create cooler environments. The construction of this structure can also be implemented for smaller scale projects through local potter communities, thereby providing them with livelihood opportunities.
