"Ohévet Le'ehov" it’s a womenswear collection dedicated to Rotem Neumann, my best friend, who was murdered at the Nova Music Festival on October 7 2023. The project celebrates a life filled with love that defined Rotem. She loved to love, loved to live, and loved to dance. Inspired by countless videos of her dancing, I set out to create a collection in which the garment itself comes to life, continuing to move even after the body comes to rest. A collection that continues Rotem’s dance through the language of fashion. In search of expressions of movement, I began researching butterflies. Although delicate and beautiful, butterflies are also remarkably fragile. Their lifespan is short, yet intensely lived. I focused on the Asian Danaus butterfly, known for its resilience and extraordinary migratory journeys despite its delicate nature. I studied the structure of its wings, the choreography of its flight, the blurred patterns created through movement, and the ever-changing silhouettes it generates.Alongside this research, I explored the rumba, often referred to as the “dance of love.” Originating in Cuba, the rumba expresses passion, intimacy, and deep emotional connection between dance partners. During my research, I discovered that the ruffle is one of the defining elements of traditional rumba dress, as it continues the movement of both the dance and the body even after motion itself has ended. This idea became central to the collection, leading me to develop ruffles in varying volumes and materials, including chiffon, lace, leather, and knitwear. The collection combines chiffon, lace, leather, and knitwear in a warm color palette featuring lilac tones loved by Rotem, and is accompanied by a silver jewelry series inspired by the wired earphones that accompanied her wherever she went. Through this collection, I seek to explore how fashion can carry memory as a living expression of love, presence, and continuity.I choose to present the dance of life as a never-ending dance, through a collection full of life, dance and movement, which each item dances whether it is in motion or static. Rotem still dances and will dance forever in my heart.
