A doll's wardrobe
Category: Apparel
We live each moment of our lives trying to learn from our experiences, often forgetting the things that have truly marked our journey. The experiences we have as children are what allow us to become the people we are today, whether they are joys or fears. We must delve into the past and confront our fears to be able to live in the present. As a child, it was dolls that frightened me—a cold, lifeless ceramic body covered in large garments. From this fear came the need to study their history, paying attention to the garments that characterized 19th-century dolls. Based particularly on the Victorian era, the capsule collection consists of corsets, body-hugging garments, stockings, puffed sleeves, and wide skirts, largely inspired by the patterns created by costume designer and teacher Janet Arnold. The choice of the "Presentosa" as a print and the use of handmade materials like linen torselli symbolize a connection to one's home, but they have been reworked to bring to light both the old and the new, allowing us to look forward without ever forgetting where we come from.
