University of the Arts London

I am a multidisciplinary designer with a passion for creating thoughtful, sensory-driven experiences and space that support well-being and foster emotional connection. My work explores how design can engage the senses, through playful lighting, tactile materials, and immersive environments, to create spaces and products that resonate deeply with people. What excites me most is the process of collaboration and experimentation: turning ideas into meaningful, real-world solutions. I’m particularly interested in working with sustainable, natural materials, exploring their potential not just functionally, but emotionally, and imagining how we can bring out the best in what nature offers to design with care, intention, and impact.

In busy cities like London and beyond, individuals with Sensory Processing Sensitivities (SPS) are especially vulnerable to overstimulation, particularly in workplace environments. In response, many have begun integrating quiet corners and natural elements to create more calming spaces. This project introduces a biophilic, nature-inspired lighting design intended to support short breaks and rest areas within the workplace. Crafted from sustainable materials such as bamboo and mulberry paper, it provides a soothing, sensory-conscious environment designed to reduce overstimulation and promote relaxation. With the combination of the free-form qualities of mulberry paper and structured stitching using cotton thread onto a scrim core, the design forms organic yet controlled surface patterns. These layers diffuse the light to create dynamic effects reminiscent of dappled tree shadows in daylight, bringing the calming essence of the outdoor environment into the interior workspace. Drawing inspiration from circadian rhythm lighting, the adjustable LED system allows users to tailor the colour or lighting temperature to their needs, helping them recharge, regain focus, and enhance overall well-being. The design embraces regional craftsmanship, sustainable production, and contemporary aesthetics to provide a meaningful, low-impact solution for modern workspaces.
