National College of Art and Design

I have recently completed a BA in textile surface design at NCAD. Specializing in woven textiles, I constantly seek new and exciting approaches I can bring to woven textiles. I also have a huge passion for processes such as screen printing, dyeing and illustrations, which I also implement into my work. As an emerging textile designer, my practice focuses on sustainability and innovation. My graduate collection illustrates my inspirations and aesthetic. “Sun, Silk & Skin” is a UV protective textile collection focused on innovations developed through biotechnological processes. This collection exhibits my love for all things textiles and fashion.

Sun, Silk and Skin

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2025

“Sun, Silk & Skin” is a UV protective textile collection focused on innovations developed through biotechnological processes. Each sample is woven to combine the luxurious and comfortable feel of silk , enhanced with the protective properties of aloe fibres and aloe gel. Aloe vera has many benefits that can be transferred into textile design. It can help with UV protection, fight bacteria, and works well with natural fibres. The bright colours in this collection are inspired by long, sunny summer days, with bold shades that stand out. Additionally, studies have shown that certain colours, especially deeper hues like reds, blues, and oranges, can help increase a textiles Ultraviolet Protection Factor. (UPF)
