Sofia Hollier
University of the Arts London
I am a recent graduate of the University of the Arts London, where I studied Product and Furniture Design. My final-year project focused on British wool, where I worked closely with farmers to better understand the challenges facing the wool industry and the declining value of wool as a natural material. Through experimentation with Romney wool, I developed furniture that challenges conventional uses of wool while highlighting its beauty, durability and versatility. My work combines traditional making processes with contemporary furniture design, with a strong focus on sustainability and circular design principles. I am particularly interested in creating products that reconnect people with natural materials and the stories behind them. I am currently working towards establishing my own furniture design and manufacturing company, creating sustainable furniture and interior products that celebrate British materials, craftsmanship and innovation.
