TOUCH WOOD

Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, Tel Aviv, Israel

Mor Elfassy, a fourth-year fashion design student at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art in Tel Aviv, explores the dialogue between tradition and innovation through her womenswear collection Touch Wood. Rooted in her personal story as the daughter of a carpenter, her work reflects the tension between her father’s world of structure and restraint and her own language of softness, sensitivity and organic movement.

Working with wood, leather and wool, Elfassy reinterprets traditional techniques such as carving, weaving and hand-knitted leather, shifting them into a contemporary fashion context. Her silhouettes begin with classic tailoring and gradually loosen into fluid, organic forms, reflecting a dialogue between the workshop’s straight lines and her own more expressive sensibility.

Inspired by the tones and textures of her father’s studio, Touch Wood brings material to the forefront of design, allowing it to speak. Through this interplay of rigidity and softness, Elfassy offers a personal language of craft that honours tradition while reimagining natural materials for a sustainable future.
