OF SCARCITY

In a small village called Paasvere, there lies a patchwork of fields that has seen toil and tradition. One of these fields belongs to my great-aunt Liina, who is a wise and knowledgeable woman. Liinas potato field has an almost magical aura as September approaches. The air grows crisp, and the sun bathes the field in a golden glow. And as the days get shorter and nights cooler, Liina set the date for the harvest. The potato harvest is not just an annual event, it is a grand celebration that marks the end of summer and beginning of autumn. The whole family gathers to help with this tough but rewarding task. A blue rusting tractor drives down the rows, digging up potatoes while others, packed up in practical workwear, pick the crops into metal baskets and patchy sacks. After hours of work the day ends with a bonfire, where we sing songs and rejoice. The annual harvest isn’t just about potatoes; it’s a celebration of community, hard work, and the simple joy of coming together. I named my story ,,OF SCARCITY’’ because it symbolizes the idea that even the humblest beginnings can lead to remarkable outcomes. Much like a seed buried in the earth, which ultimately sprouts into a thriving plant, this title suggests that beauty, success, and life itself often emerge from the most unlikely or seemingly insignificant origins - it prompts us to appreciate the inherent potential within the most unassuming starting points.
