A Thought That Remains Awake
Category: Apparel
The Monster of the Night explores trauma, memory, and hypervigilance through hand knitting, textile manipulation, and personal storytelling. Inspired by my experience as a reservist commander, the project translates emotional experiences into wearable forms. The knitted garment incorporates texts taken from my illustrated book, while the oversized jacket features printed drawings derived from the same visual narrative. Steel wires inserted into the jacket distort its silhouette, creating a tension between protection and collapse. Working exclusively with wool, cotton, and natural materials, the project investigates the relationship between body, memory, and clothing. Monochromatic tones, exposed edges, and hand-crafted techniques transform garments into emotional landscapes that balance vulnerability, protection, and resilience.
