BEND: From Strip to Structure
Category: Interior
The project explores the structural potential of bamboo by transforming it into strips and using them as the primary building element. Through material experimentation with splitting, bending, weaving, and joinery, I explored how bamboo could be manipulated to create rigidity, flexibility, movement, and form. The insights from these explorations were translated into a collection of functional home products, including a jewellery hanger, organiser tray, table runner, and fruit basket. Each product demonstrates how simple construction techniques and thoughtful joinery can harness bamboo's natural strength and flexibility, creating durable, adaptable, and elegant objects. The collection celebrates bamboo not only as a renewable material but also as a versatile medium for innovative product design, where material behaviour itself becomes the foundation of form and function.
