¿Y tú de dónde eres?

This outfit was part of my graduate collection. It is a tribute to Austria and Chile, the countries of origin of my parents. Raised between two cultures, the collection explores the experience of navigating multiple identities and the recurring question “¿So, where are you from?”. Through this I reflected European and Latin American joy, sartorial traditions and craftsmanship. A central element in the construction of the garments is the circular movement found in the traditional dances such as the Chilean Cueca and the Viennese Walz. This sense of motion is translated into the silhouette of the shirt and further empathized through the use of a striped fabric. This allows the garment to visually rotate around both themselves and the wearer. In this silhouette the classic Huaso suit receives a contemporary reinterpretation by combining the traditional Latin-American shape with classical European tailoring techniques. This combination makes the garments adaptable to a modern everyday wardrobe. Fabric development also plays an important role throughout the collection. Traditional materials and references reimagined through contemporary textiles such as wool denim. This fabric merges the heritage of wool garments, including Chilean Manta and Austrian Trachten jackets, with the timeless versatility of denim.
