In my most recent project I explored the role AI and technology plays in developing modern architecture through fashion design concepts. Both old and Modern architecture consists of a variety of intricate and structured details, and I referenced the differences in both throughout my work, documenting the evolution of design. I referred to typical female work wear attire such as suits in an exaggerated form to depict power in femininity in contrasting materials such as leather and satin. By using AI, I can compare visuals of architectural structures and fashion designs to find common themes, such as symmetry, proportion and material innovation. I believe that combining features from architecture and designs formed by AI can ensure this project identifies patterns, themes and structural similarities between how AI and architectural design function. My project is aimed at individuals who are drawn to innovative design, architectural influences, and bold expressions of femininity. These individuals are style-conscious and culturally aware, often working in creative or professional industries where fashion is both a personal and powerful statement. They are attracted to garments that merge structure with softness, combining contrasting elements like satin and leather to reflect strength and vulnerability. With an edgy, grungy aesthetic running through the collection, the project channels a raw, rebellious energy-challenging traditional notions of female workwear through exaggerated silhouettes, dark tones, and textural contrasts. This audience values conceptual depth, craftsmanship, and fashion that redefines power, identity, and femininity through a modern, architectural lens. Although AI sketches in lines of logic, weaving patterns of precision, it is the human hand that breathes soul into the fabric. Algorithms may predict trends, but they do not dream. Machines can generate forms, yet they do not feel the weight of history, the pulse of culture, or the quiet poetry of imperfection. Fashion is not merely construction; it is expression born from the mind, shaped by the hands, and carried by the heart. AI may build the frame, but it is I, the designer who paints the story. In my fashion design project exploring the role of Al in modern design, sustainability played a central role. By integrating Al tools, I was able to make data-driven decisions around material sourcing-prioritizing eco-friendly, low-impact textiles that aligned with sustainable design principles. Al allowed me to explore innovative fabrics, simulate garment construction digitally, and reduce waste through efficient pattern making. It also supported transparency by mapping supplier data, ensuring ethically sourced materials. This approach not only enhanced the design process creatively but also demonstrated how technology can support a more responsible and environmentally conscious fashion industry. I will be exploring the role of Al in modern design, I made a conscious decision to work with leather, approaching it through a sustainability lens. Using Al tools, I was able to source leather from ethical, traceable suppliers with a focus on by-product material-ensuring minimal environmental impact and waste. Al-supported material analysis helped me evaluate the durability and longevity of leather, aligning with slow fashion principles by designing pieces meant to last. By combining traditional materials with innovative technology, I aimed to create work that respects craftsmanship while embracing a modern, responsible approach to fashion design. I began to set certain rules such as Using deadstock fabric where possible to avoid mass consumption. Mix different materials together in looks to avoid wastage. Reach out to brands that can sponsor me and donate deadstock or scrap hides that I can add to my collection to promote upcycling and resetting the life cycle of a fabric. Source from UK to avoid carbon footprint. I contacted bridge of weir leather to sponsor me with providing scrap leather that they could no longer use and as a result I repurposed their leftover material to create my design. I was quite limited on how large my patterns could be due to the hides being cut out and cut up, however I managed to generate a bodysuit out of what I was given. I also made a mixed media skirt containing cut off leather and created layers of pleats from them. the skirt contains a small amount of faux leather to create volume on the skirt, however if I had access to more real leather I would have avoided this.
