Where City Meets Haute Couture By: Blaine Jillian Collection

Category: Apparel

My name is Blaine Berry, and I study fashion design at Savannah College of Art & Design. I am in my sophomore year of SCAD and have just started designing with different textiles and learning about my aesthetics and skills. For this challenge, I challenge myself to do a sustainable avant-garde piece made from straws and paper. The skirt I made is made of paper window shades cut into pieces to make the garment. I designed it using straws and spray-painted black gloss with a metallic finish. I also created the headpiece to create more definition. New York Chrysler building centers this look, and I tried to duplicate the New York Chrysler building in a paper garment.
