The connection with nature and my relationship with the environment underpins all my designs. Cultivating this interest, I have focused on organic forms in my portfolio. This is evident throughout my work, in which I translate these studies into textile samples. This family of knit techniques has been developed and explored thoroughly, taking inspiration from microstructures found in plants. These knitted sculptures have been made with personalized knitting methods to create these delicate and ethereal forms. Finding the balance within an environmentally kind lifestyle has always been important to me, and sustainability is a constant in the foundation of my designs. Equilibrium with the environment is represented here by my use of paper yarns, which are made from recycled paper, so no new materials are being made. They could be used for a fashion context; however, these photos of my textile pieces are shown in a more interior context. The textiles have been stretched with willow to create suggestions for lampshades, abstract sculptures, and room dividers. Taking inspiration from Japanese interiors, a very minimalist and soft aesthetic is created. These textile samples are suggestions for a simple and organic relationship with nature, encouraging a more careful and conscious approach to place."
