Vidyanshi Rajkrishna

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN

Hi, I’m Vidyanshi Rajkrishna—a corporate professional turned designer, currently pursuing my Master’s in Lifestyle Accessories Design at the National Institute of Design, India. I love working hands-on with materials such as clay, wood, metal, leather, fabric, and bamboo, and enjoy exploring the possibilities each material offers through the making process. I believe in creating designs that balance functionality and aesthetics while serving a clear purpose. I like to immerse myself fully in the entire design journey, from research and conceptualization to prototyping and final production. I am currently working towards building a leather-based brand that encourages curiosity and experimentation, transforming everyday carrying into a more sustainable, expressive, and mindful experience.

Bejewelled – The Bamboo Jewellery Stand

Category: Interior

Competitions: Home Competition 2026

This bamboo jewellery stand is designed to display jewellery efficiently while allowing each piece to stand out. It is made using simple cuts and bent bamboo sections to have material honesty and minimal intervention. The clean, open frame creates a balanced composition that feels light yet stable. The stand features multiple horizontal rods and slots that accommodate a variety of jewellery types—earrings, hoops, studs, bangles, chains, and necklaces—making it highly functional for everyday use. The vertical side element allows necklaces to hang freely, preventing tangling and keeping them easily accessible. The understated design ensures that the jewellery remains the focal point, while the warm tone and natural grain of bamboo add a subtle visual softness. The base is created to provide stability without adding visual weight, making the stand suitable for dressers, shelves, or retail display surfaces. Through this design, I tried to balance simplicity, functionality, and material sensitivity, creating a display that enhances the beauty of the jewellery rather than competing with it.
