Alexandra Oakley

Graduating from De Montfort University in 2024 with a BA Fashion Design degree, I am a Womenswear designer who designs to challenge classic silhouettes of womenswear against traditional menswear tailoring. I carefully consider materials and desire to challenge fabrications to create garments that explore innovation within silhouette as well as fabrication. I have always had an affinity for exploring how silhouettes can be subverted between genders, as well as experimenting with the fabrications used and challenging their capabilities. It was through this desire for innovation that I decided to explore the use of hair extensions within both the design and construction process of my graduate collection and challenging the material to become an integral part of the fabrication.
