Yoon Ju Chung

I am a researcher, educator, and maker exploring how fashion can become a language through materials, movement, and participation. Rooted in Korean material knowledge, my practice transforms the structural logic of Hangul, the Korean alphabet, into modular wearable systems that invite assembly, reconfiguration, repair, and interaction. Working across fashion artefact, costume, and material experimentation, I investigate how garments can function as adaptive and relational structures that evolve through use rather than remaining fixed objects. Originally trained in Fashion Design (BA, MA, PhD), I recently completed an MA in Fashion Artefact at London College of Fashion. My work sits between fashion, craft, and material research, using making as a way to rethink how garments can communicate, transform, and endure. Based in London, I continue to develop research-led projects exploring sustainable wearable systems through material experimentation and embodied communication.
