This project focuses on circular thinking and aims to raise ecological awareness about the environmental impact of the agriculture industry. It converts citrus fruit waste into valuable resources through industrial ecology, improving soil quality and agricultural output. Thousands of tons of citrus waste in Israel contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, and this project offers an aesthetically pleasing ecological solution to combat pollution by creating biodegradable planters from waste. At its core, the project centers on material research to transform citrus fruit waste into a raw material. The recipe developed utilizes natural materials, producing biodegradable raw materials from waste. These planters decompose and enrich the soil, promoting sustainable practices and replacing plastic alternatives. I conducted material research using various kinds of citrus waste and other natural supplements to produce a new material. This material allows me to control the flexibility, opacity, and texture of the end product. The catalog showcases different materials and colors derived from the citrus fruit pallet. The template technique in pressing, using ecological plaster, results in unique planters with varying shades that embody sustainability and ecological responsibility. By harnessing citrus fruit waste's potential, this project offers a practical and beautiful approach to address environmental challenges. The logo inspired by the JAFFA’s oranges brand which steeped in local heritage. Drawing from the charming aesthetics of old street signs and stamps once imprinted on the iconic orange boxes, this logo encapsulates the essence of tradition and nostalgia. The fusion of these elements creates a harmonious blend of history and contemporary design, mirroring the rich tapestry of JAFFA's orchard legacy. Embracing the vibrant colors and rustic textures reminiscent of the region's citrus groves, the logo captures the spirit of authenticity and local pride. With every glance, it evokes a sense of connection to the land and the time-honored tradition of producing the finest fruits. This logo stands as a symbol of JAFFA's enduring allure and serves as a testament to the timeless charm of its orchards.
