Lisa Sheppard

NA

Lisa Sheppard took her first rug hooking course in November 2019 at the Anna Templeton Center. She found the craft of rug hooking helps her escape from reality and get lost in the loops. After taking her first rug hooking course, she found she wanted to learn more. She participated in online workshops and still wanted to learn more about arts and crafts movement, so she became a Textile and Apparel Design student at CNA. After graduating from the program, she still wanted more! Lisa will be attending NSCAD to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts: Textile and Fashion. Through the Textile and Apparel Design program Lisa has learned about dyes, knitting, rug hooking, apparel creation and embroidery. She has enjoyed designing and creating whatever she can imagine. Lisa Sheppard is a Strongwomen competitor who pulls dump trucks and lifts 175-pound stones. She is mother of three who lives in Paradise with her family. Lisa has found the craft of textile design and creation to be an expression of her inner energy, offering freedom and groundedness. Playing with materials, colors, techniques and styles Lisa feels there is no limits to what you can create. She believes that craft is hand made, skilled, functional creations that serve a purpose and are rooted in tradition and love.

Dancing in the Lupins

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

Dancing in the Lupins is a dress inspired by the colours of summer in Paradise, NL. Lupins, and lilacs hold a rich purple hue that draws my eyes in. The flowers bring me back to childhood summer days., feeling carefree and as fast as the wind. I created the dress with naturally dyed silk noil. I love how the silk fabric drapes and flows with the body. This dress can be worn by different shapes and sizes allowing the piece to stay in you collection no matter how your body changes. It be worn day or night, dressed up or dressed down. I design clothing for someone who want to have fun in what they wear. They want to stand out and share their energy. Dancing in the Lupins is a zero waste dress that brings joy to everyone who witnesses it.
