Tika Shelia
Parsons School of Design
I am currently studying for a graduate degree in Industrial Design at Parsons School in New York. I am gaining hands-on experience in material-making and learning about the environmental impact of design. The program offers both practical training and theoretical knowledge, helping me understand how our design choices affect the environment. In addition to my studies, I co-own "Around The Studio," a design and art practice studio that I founded with my partner. The studio employs a diverse range of practices, including interior design, installation, and object design or video art. Our work explores the impact of local influences on identity, from primitive cultures to the context of a Christian state amidst the remnants of the Soviet era. Previously, I worked as an architectural designer at "The Laboratory of Architecture" in Georgia, where I honed my technical skills and gained valuable experience. My educational background includes a degree from the Visual Arts and Interior design at the Free University of Georgia, where I explored various creative practices such as installation, sculpture, and painting. My journey has been a blend of hands-on design, artistic exploration, and academic growth, all of which continue to inform and inspire my work today.
