Shikha Bharti

I’m Shikha Bharti, a designer with a strong foundation in leather and apparel design, deeply committed to conscious creation and sustainable innovation. My practice blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, rooted in the belief that good design serves both people and the planet. With over 2 years of experience across apparel and accessories, I specialize in working with sustainable materials, color strategy, trend forecasting, and CAD tools such as Adobe Suite, Rhino, and CLO 3D. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Leather Design from NIFT Raebareli and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Apparel Design at NID. My work spans across product development, storytelling through material, and design solutions that merge functionality with creative expression. For the Only Natural competition, I’ve designed a collection of leather bags made using industrial scrap leather and dyed with biodegradable, natural ingredients. This project reflects my belief in rethinking waste and honoring the full lifecycle of a product—from sourcing to disposal. Each piece in this collection is crafted through a sustainable lens while preserving the essence of hand-done leatherwork. I’m passionate about creating designs that are not only visually compelling but also ethically grounded. Through my work, I aim to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive design ecosystem.
