Human Hanger is a menswear project that explores how clothing structures can reshape the human body. The idea comes from the everyday hanger, which quietly acts as the skeleton of garments. In this project, that hidden structure is brought outside the clothing and transformed into a visible wearable framework. The structural forms reference the human body, particularly the spine, shoulders, and rib cage. These elements are translated into modular components that support garments and change the silhouette of the wearer. When the structure is worn, it alters posture and body proportion. When removed, the garments return to softer and oversized forms, revealing how much clothing relies on hidden support. The skeletal framework is made from camphorwood, a material commonly used in wooden hangers. It was chosen for its light weight, affordability, and natural durability, making it suitable for wearable structures while maintaining a clear conceptual link to the hanger itself. As a natural material, camphorwood also reflects a more environmentally conscious approach to garment construction. Alongside the wooden framework, the project also focuses on textile development. Custom fabrics were created through lace, knit, and embroidery techniques, producing wood grain inspired textures that echo the surface and visual language of camphorwood. These fabrics translate the idea of wood and skeleton into softer materials and create a contrast between rigid structure and flexible garments. Through this combination of natural materials, textile experimentation, and tailoring, Human Hanger proposes a new way of thinking about menswear, where clothing becomes an external skeleton that supports and reshapes the human body.
