Umang Bhardwaj
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN
I am an architect by training and currently pursuing my design education at the National Institute of Design (NID), where I continue to deepen my creative practice through hands-on exploration, critical thinking, and experimentation. With a strong foundation in architecture, I bring a keen understanding of space, materials, and structure to all my work. This background has helped me develop a methodical yet intuitive approach to design, allowing me to engage with both conceptual and practical challenges thoughtfully. One of my strongest skills lies in model making. I take pride in creating detailed, precise, and expressive models—whether they are architectural prototypes or quick mock-ups. My patience and attention to detail play a significant role in this process, helping me work through iterative design cycles with care and focus. I enjoy the act of building and crafting ideas with my hands, often finding clarity through the making process itself. Problem-solving is another area where I thrive. I like to approach problems from multiple angles, balancing creativity with practicality. I am not afraid to take time exploring different solutions, and I find satisfaction in arriving at outcomes that are both elegant and effective. I believe that good design emerges when you are willing to listen, observe, and adapt. Outside of design, I am also deeply passionate about music. I play the tabla, guitar, and drums. Music helps me stay grounded and expressive, and it has taught me rhythm, patience, and the importance of flow—all of which influence how I think and create as a designer.
