Seed to Silence explores organic systems through knitwear, focusing on the natural cycles of growth, strain, release, and renewal. In nature, living forms continuously expand until they reach a point of tension, after which they gradually soften and collapse. This collapse is not a failure, but a necessary stage within the cycle that allows regeneration and new life to emerge. Flowers have long been an inspiration in both fashion and art, making them a timeless muse rather than simply a trend. Nature never truly disappears; it enters a dormant state before growth begins again. The collection follows the stages within an organic cycle: growth, emergence, expansion, overextension, and collapse. Through knitwear, Seed to Silence translates these organic transitions into texture, structure, and silhouette. A focus on drape runs throughout the collection, created through a combination of single and double bed knit fabrics that allow the garments to shift between tension and release. Stretch, distortion, and soft collapse mimic the physical behaviours found in nature as forms evolve under pressure. Using sustainable yarns and fully fashioning, the collection reflects an awareness of natural cycles and material responsibility. The look showcases fully fashioned, knitted to shape garments that celebrate precision craftsmanship and natural fibres. The top is produced on a Stoll knitting machine using a slip jacquard technique in 100% silk, creating a lightweight fabric with intricate pattern definition. The trousers are knitted to shape on a 10 Gauge Dubied knitting machine using both merino wool and herb dyed merino wool. Constructed in a mock rib structure with a 2×1 rib waistband, they combine refined texture with a sculptural silhouette, highlighting the beauty of natural fibres, plant based dyeing, and fully fashioned knit construction.
