Yumin Kim

Pusan National University

I am Yumin Kim, an undergraduate student at Pusan National University, majoring in Clothing and Fashion Design with a minor in Arts, Culture, and Film/Media. Through a design internship at DAKS Womenswear, I acquired hands-on industry experience, while my retail roles at Roem and Mango allowed me to grasp market trends and consumer behavior. Expanding my horizons further, I have driven planning and exhibition design for the national fashion association (OFF) and the academic club Cloth Up. Currently, I am also active as an agency-signed model. This multi-faceted experience—navigating both the brand design room and the spaces in front of and behind the camera—has become my unique visual asset. As a creator, rather than pursuing standardized trends, I have consistently archived my own references, drawing profound inspiration from fine arts such as assemblage, objects, and installation art. My archiving process centers on art-related texts and the synesthetic stimuli derived from physical matters. I continuously gather sources focused on key concepts: physical layers, vulnerable materials, found objects, information overload, and imperfection. This curated database of personal interests and raw sources serves as the starting point for all my narrative-driven fashion projects. I firmly believe that true aesthetic value resides in unrefined, raw textures rather than beautifully packaged mainstream trends, and translating this authenticity into fashion is my ultimate creative pursuit.
