As a textile designer, my interest in sustainable design lies at the forefront. My goal is to produce materials and designs that will be sustainable, environmentally sound and beautiful in their aesthetics. This means that my design aesthetic relies heavily on natural and biodegradable material that is environmentally sustainable at its core. As such, one area of particular interest to me is organic and plant-based material that has little impact on the environment while being aesthetically appealing. For me, sustainable textile design lies not only in design itself but in the selection of appropriate materials. This means that one aspect of sustainability to which I pay great attention is the selection of alternative to synthetic and resource intensive materials. This, in turn, appeals to me not only due to my concern about the environment but also because natural materials look and feel better in many ways, having a particular texture and uniqueness to them. In other words, experimentation with such materials should become part of my design process. In addition, I am interested in learning about the lifecycle of textiles, from procurement through production to reuse or degradation. This perspective allows me to see beyond the immediate results of design decisions, taking into account the broader implications of my work. I aim to produce aesthetically pleasing textiles that are not only sustainable but also grounded in ethical principles. I would like to contribute to the development of an environmentally conscious design culture that embraces natural elements and resources and promotes a balanced approach to creativity and responsibility.
