TERRA HAZEL COFFEE TABLE

Inspired by the unique form of the Black Sea hazelnut cluster ("Çotanak"), Terra-Hazel is a contemporary coffee table that deeply merges circular design principles with regional ecology. The design mimics how hazelnuts are naturally held together by their husk, translating this organic bond into a central, hardware-free joinery system that connects the table's core elements into a unified, honest aesthetic. What makes the chosen natural material so remarkable is the ingenious duality and structural power of the hazelnut shell. Rather than treating it as mere aggregate, the design utilizes both crushed and finely ground hazelnut shells. We love the material because it carries its own natural binding compounds; when combined with local pine resin, it transforms from an agricultural byproduct into a high-strength, ultra-durable bio-composite. It offers a rich, tactile, and visually deep eco-terrazzo texture that celebrates the raw, authentic identity of the Black Sea region. Driven by a strict commitment to circularity, Terra-Hazel is 100% sustainable, regional, and biodegradable. The production processes utilize local agricultural waste, giving a second life to discarded shells. To ensure a pure circular lifecycle, the structure completely eliminates metal hardware and toxic glues. Instead, it relies on a high-precision, integrated wooden thread joinery system where the natural beech legs seamlessly twist and interlock into the thermally modified beech core. This tool-free, mechanical connection enables effortless assembly, flat-pack logistics, and a fully recyclable, zero-waste lifecycle.
