I am a final year Fashion Design and Technology student at Manchester Metropolitan University with a passion for product and innovation. Due to graduate in July 2026. Through my degree and placement, I have developed a strong foundation in product development and construction with an interest in technical garments, performance sportswear and outerwear. While working on projects, I have focused on developing sustainable practises and utilising innovative techniques, with my final university project winning the Fashion Innovation Award at Graduate Fashion Week 2026. I understand how damaging the clothing we wear can be on the environment and my projects through university have been driven by my desire to make a difference. As an avid hiker I don’t want the clothing I wear, no matter how functional, to effect the environment so I strive to find ways to develop garments which are biodegradable and recyclable. Not only should fabric be sustainable but the trims, processes, and construction techniques should also be considered.

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

Mind In Motion is a collection which is sensory friendly, fit for purpose and has a limited impact on the environment. The garments which are inspired by shapes, colours and textures found in nature are made to be calming, concealed and blend into the surroundings. To ensure the wearer benefits both physically and mentally from the garments, key textures include soft breathable fabrics, non-restrictive designs, easy closures and sustainable but practical fabrics for the use of performance garments, with a focus on cotton Ventile. Cotton Ventile is woven using extra- long staple cotton yarns to a dense structure which offers excellent comfort when dry and great waterproof protection in wet conditions. While cotton ventile has great properties to use in outdoor garments, it also isn't treated with any PFCs which outdoor garments usually are which ensures minimal environmental impact is created. The collection should enhance the user’s performance and limit environmental impact by making them comfortable and confident while questioning the need for overengineered garments and non-biodegradable materials.
