BHUMIKA NARGANWE
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN
I am currently studying Textile and Apparel Design and aspire to explore innovative ways in which textiles can contribute to a more sustainable future. As the fashion and textile industry is one of the major contributors to pollution and waste, I believe designers have the responsibility to create solutions that are both creative and environmentally conscious. My goal is to work towards saving the earth through sustainable approaches in textile development, material innovation, and ethical design practices. I am particularly interested in researching and experimenting with eco-friendly fabrics made from bio-waste, agricultural residues, recycled materials, and natural fibres. I want to understand how traditional craftsmanship and modern technology can come together to reduce textile waste and promote circular fashion. Through my studies, I aim to learn about sustainable dyeing methods, zero-waste production techniques, biodegradable textiles, and responsible consumption. Apart from designing aesthetically appealing products, I want my work to create awareness about environmental issues and inspire people to make mindful choices. I strongly believe that fashion can become a medium for positive change when creativity is combined with sustainability. By participating in workshops, competitions, and collaborative projects, I hope to expand my knowledge and contribute meaningful ideas to the field of sustainable textiles. In the future, I wish to develop textile solutions that are innovative, functional, and environmentally responsible, helping build a fashion industry that respects both people and the planet.
