Yuval Alroey

Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art

I’m Yuval Alroey, a 29 year old fashion designer and freelancer based in Givatayim, Israel. I’m passionate about traveling, soaking in art and new cultures wherever I go, always finding inspiration in the unexpected. I launched my brand, Outré, almost a year ago with a vision to merge fashion and art into something deeply personal, sustainable, and one of a kind. My work is rooted in craftsmanship and storytelling, often inspired by surrealism and the quiet beauty hidden in everyday life. With each collection, I seek to reimagine forgotten materials and overlooked garments, blending meticulous handwork with repurposed textiles to create limited pieces that carry meaning and emotion. Beyond the brand, I design custom looks for performances and artists - aiming to bring a new lens to fashion that embraces individuality and challenges traditional boundaries. Outré is my way of slowing things down, honoring the handmade, and giving space to pieces that feel intimate, intentional, and rare. In a world of mass production, I wanted to create something that speaks to the desire to feel truly unique - something only a few can own, but many can connect with.

Tapestry Reverie

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2025

Tapestry Reverie is a collection inspired by gobelins- handcrafted textiles that carry stories from the past. These woven artworks invite us into dreamlike, utopian scenes and offer a moment of stillness in a fast-moving world. By reinterpreting traditional techniques I grew up around, the collection blends nostalgia with contemporary fashion. It's a tribute to craftsmanship, patience, and artistry often forgotten today. Gobelin tapestries and tailoring share a deep connection in their demand for precision, time, and skill. Both involve intricate handwork and attention to detail. I designed oversized, structured jackets from vintage tapestries to highlight this shared artistry. These garments are meant to preserve the soul of the original works, while reimagining them in a fresh, wearable way. Sustainability, to me, begins with craft. I believe in slow, thoughtful production that values quality and story. My work is rooted in upcycling, using materials like gobelins and biodegradable deadstock wool. These practices not only reduce waste but honor the cultural and emotional significance of textiles. I embrace imperfection, durability, and conscious design- where fashion becomes meaningful and responsible. Gobelins, made from 100% cotton canvas and wool or cotton embroidery threads, are renewable and biodegradable. By upcycling these textiles, I breathe new life into discarded art, preserving its beauty and meaning while creating new narratives through fashion. This collection is about slowing down, reconnecting with handwork, and finding beauty in what’s been left behind.
