Ella Sharp
London College of Fashion
My name is Ella Sharp, and I am a 19-year-old student currently studying Fashion Textiles Knit. Knitting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember; I first learned the craft at the age of five, and it has grown from a childhood hobby into a lifelong passion and career ambition. The combination of creativity, technical skill, and innovation within knitwear is what continues to inspire me every day. Before pursuing fashion education, I developed a background in manufacturing, which gave me valuable insight into how products are made and the processes behind textile production. While I enjoyed this experience, I realised that my true passion lay in creating textiles and garments, leading me to follow a path that combines both technical knowledge and creative design. Outside of my studies, I am an enthusiastic runner and cyclist. These interests have sparked a fascination with technical textiles and performance knitwear, particularly how innovative materials and construction techniques can enhance comfort, functionality, and sustainability. I am excited by the potential for knitwear to solve real-world challenges while remaining aesthetically compelling. Sustainability is at the heart of my design practice. I believe designers have a responsibility to rethink materials, reduce waste, and create products with longevity in mind. This commitment was recognised when I won the London regional final of the Junk Kouture competition with a garment created entirely from discarded materials. The experience reinforced my belief that creativity and sustainability can work hand in hand to produce impactful design. I am a passionate and driven designer who is constantly looking for new ways to push the boundaries of knitwear. Through my work, I aim to combine innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship to create textiles that are both meaningful and forward-thinking.
