Xanthe Sparkman

Columbia College Chicago

Xanthe Sparkman is a senior student at Columbia College Chicago working towards her BFA in Fashion Design with a minor in craft. Her studies have led her to explore a variety of fine art mediums, outside of pattern making and garment construction, including papermaking, book binding, knitting and more. For her current senior thesis collection, she is exploring many of these fine art mediums into her practices as a designer. She has a garment and artist book displayed at an exhibit for the University Art Biennial in Palma de Mallorca. Her senior work explores themes of natural distressing while personifying worn objects into storytellers about the potential lives of an unknown tenant. Xanthe has strong intentions about the materials she uses as an artist and is meticulously sourcing a wide range of textiles and hardware from second hand sources.
