National College of Art and Design

I am a passionate young designer, committed to furthering my development within the jewellery industry. I have a strong work ethic and can work competently both independently and in a collaborative environment. As a young maker, I am eager to learn and highly value any opportunity to expand my skill and technique. With my roots in Ireland I am deeply interested in the land around me along with the use of organic, native materials. This interest is something I wish to explore further amongst other landscapes, external to Ireland.

Precious Land

'Precious Land' is a jewellery collection centred on the Irish landscape and the value of working with raw Irish materials such as native sheep wool, slate, and linen. The wool industry in Ireland was once a vital part of our heritage; today, most of Ireland’s wool is either exported or discarded as waste. This project aims to inspire a renewed connection between the wearer and the land, and to celebrate the value of a now under appreciated material. My practice involves travelling across Ireland, observing texture and colour, and translating these impressions into material form through processes such as etching and natural dyeing. While rooted in traditional techniques, I incorporate silver and magnetism to secure the natural components. This results in an interchangeable quality that allows for customisation and fosters a more personal, tactile connection to each piece.

Working with our partners at Arts Thread to develop lifelong learning and career opportunities for students of fashion and design. Our partnership provides the opportunity to compete on a world stage, participate in industry led workshops, set up an outstanding portfolio and gain access to the resources that will kickstart careers in fashion and design.
