Aimie HAINAUD

Académie Royale Des Beaux Arts De Bruxelles

A graduate of the master’s program in textile design at ArBA-Esa in Brussels, Aimie creates fabrics made from 100% hemp. She is fascinated by this rigid fiber with shape memory, especially since she discovered a few years ago that she had grown up in a French village where this plant was cultivated until the 19th century. Through her work, Aimie seeks to understand how a flexible material can become self-supporting. She explores how textiles—so often considered flat—can occupy space, stand on their own, and unfold as soon as they come off the loom. Aimie hopes to develop her textiles for use in interior design, so that all the properties of this fabric and of hemp can be fully harnessed.
