"Corkonnect" is a cork-based modular divider system. As indicated by its name, this system utilizes cork, a sustainable material, allowing each modular piece to connect seamlessly with others. The design of Corkonnect prioritizes sustainability-effective noise absorption and imparts an organic, earthy aesthetic to any space. Corkonnect aims to push the boundaries of modular designs. While modular dividers are standard, a system entirely composed of cork is unprecedented. Corkonnect is introduced as a pioneering solution, fully harnessing cork's natural properties to offer a unique and environmentally friendly alternative in space management. This design challenges conventional material use in divider systems. It exemplifies innovation in leveraging cork for its aesthetic appeal and functional benefits, thus setting a new standard in sustainable interior design. This piece could serve as a room divider, and its modular nature means it can be combined with identical or complementary pieces to cover larger areas or create varied patterns and structures within an interior space. Given cork's inherent attributes, such as sound absorption, odor, and chemical resistance, this cork divider system is exceptionally well-suited for kitchen environments. It can effectively maintain a serene and pristine atmosphere while contributing a sophisticated artistic element to the decor. The prototype has been created using a scale of 1 foot to 5 inches. It is crafted from the same materials as the design, including corkboard and fabric. The frame of this modular piece is made from a laser-cut corkboard. It is characterized by its chunky, stout construction with edges that have been notched out at regular intervals, allowing for easy modular connection with other pieces. The inner section's original design showcases a hand-cut cork fabric arranged in a pattern of interconnected shapes that resemble leaves or petals, imbuing a contemporary and organic feel. The inner section design can be tailored to the user's preferences, featuring different pattern cuts or no opening, with the cork fabric available in a variety of colors and textures.
