Ascent – Hand-Felted Wool Boot

Category: Footwear

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

This hand-felted boot explores protection, warmth and the relationship between the body and natural materials. Inspired by the resilience of traditional mountain footwear, it reinterprets the boot as a sculptural object that provides both physical and emotional comfort. Crafted entirely by hand using traditional wet-felting techniques, the boot is made from Tyrolean mountain wool. The sole is made from felted wool offcuts bonded with natural latex, transforming leftover materials into a durable, fully natural, zero-waste component. Rather than hiding the qualities of wool, the design embraces its natural texture and insulating properties, allowing the material itself to shape both the form and function of the object. By combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, the project demonstrates how renewable natural materials can be transformed into functional footwear with minimal waste while preserving the tactile and expressive qualities of wool.
