Csenge Diviki-Nagy

Moholy-Nagy University of art and design

Textile Design MA / MFA

My name is Csenge Diviki-Nagy and I'm from Hungary. I just finished my master course at Moholy-Nagy University of art and design as a textile designer. I'm interested in felting and other textile techniques and home textiles. In my diploma work I researched felting through contemporary solutions and worked with a “garden” theme inspired by traditional felt rugs. By organically incorporating my favorite textile techniques into the material, I created a mixed-media textile surface that summarizes what I want to work with so far and in the future, both in terms of thematic and surface processing.

The aim of my thesis is to showcase my creative toolkit through the creation of a felt rug. During the process, I paired plants and surfaces found in my home environment with textile manipulation techniques characteristic of my design persona. My inspiration came from the traditional techniques of felt rug making and the North Caucasian carpets, which also create compositions from the flowers in their surroundings. By modernly applying traditional felting methods, I strived to create a unique, artistic rug that not only serves as a decorative element but also as an artistic expression of the symbiosis between nature and humans.
