Shih Chien University

My name is Tzu-Wei Yang (Tiffany), a 5th-grade fashion design student at Shih Chien University. For me, fashion is far more than clothing—it is a powerful language that conveys profound ideas, emotions, and connections across cultures. My design practice deeply focuses on exploring the intersection of craftsmanship, utility, and contemporary art, while weaving my personal life experiences and reflections directly into the narrative of each piece. Driven by a passion for eco-conscious fashion, I expanded my international perspective during an exchange semester at Pforzheim University in Germany. A defining milestone in my journey was participating in the ISPO Munich Academy Masterclass, where I collaborated with international talents to develop innovative platform concepts addressing industry overconsumption. This intensive experience solidified my commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly design practices and shaped my vision for the future of responsible fashion. My ability to blend commercial viability with artistic concepts has led to numerous accolades, including First Prize in the 2025 SCFD Graduate Show, winning the Design Dispatch Future Forward Summer 2025, and receiving an Honorable Mention in the prestigious Loro Piana Knitwear Competition. My core expertise lies in technical knitwear and structural engineering, utilizing advanced programming such as Shima Seiki and Kauo-Heng. In my latest collection, I translated my personal experience of embarking on a 100-kilometer hiking pilgrimage in Spain into an outdoor-inspired, sustainable luxury collection. To address garment longevity, I designed an innovative "rope-regulation system" where functional cords serve as both the aesthetic core and adjustable elements. This design choice allows garments to adapt flexibly to varying body shapes, promoting multi-wear functionality and extending the clothing lifecycle to reduce textile waste. Through OnlyNature, I look forward to demonstrating how high-end knitwear can perfectly harmonize zero-waste craftsmanship, performance utility, and emotive storytelling, offering the global market fashion that deeply respects both the wearer and the planet.

I miss you is what I said the most

This collection is inspired by a long-distance relationship I had before, the experience makes me thinking about how people nowadays maintain the relationship through the phone, and if the connection and feeling we feel through text and call are real. And in the long distance relationships we often say "I miss you" more than "I love you" because of the distance and everything happens on phone, trapped behind a phone screen, that is why I use jacquard techniques, I knit images directly into the fabric, creating an illusion where the virtual and the real are blur it is like seeing someone through a screen, clearly there, but untouchable. This "flat illusion" symbolises that everything keeps in the screen the emotion. To ground these digital longings back into the physical world, I consciously chose eco-friendly cotton yarn as my primary material. This choice not only reduces environmental impact and ensures circularity, but the natural, pure texture of the cotton also contrasts with the coldness of digital screens, reinforcing the organic authenticity of real human feelings. The lace patchwork incorporated into the series represents the romance and tenderness that still exist within relationships — a longing for genuine connection, even when wrapped in rationality and technology. The overall design responds to how people today rely on mobile phones to maintain relationships, while also attempting to transform those compressed, delayed, and distorted emotions into wearable pieces with warmth. This is an experiment in expressing emotion through knitting — a question and a gaze directed at love in the digital age.
