Tereza Kupčíková

London Metropolitan University

Furniture and product designer and maker with a deep appreciation for materials and their potential. From an early age, she was captivated by the craftsmanship and tactile qualities of wood—a connection that deepened throughout her studies and remains central to her practice. Her design approach is rooted in multifunctionality, thoughtful solutions, and a balance between traditional techniques and experimental methods. She enjoys working across different scales and exploring a range of materials to create pieces that serve both purpose and meaning in everyday life. Her design practice focuses on developing functional, visually engaging objects that connect nature with contemporary living. Each project becomes an exploration—rethinking familiar forms, incorporating innovative materials, and emphasizing sustainability. While working with various materials such as metal, ceramic, and bioplastics, wood remains the focal point, celebrated for its unique grain, texture, and character. The process involves repurposing waste, exploring the individuality of each material, and designing for longevity. By combining craftsmanship with innovation, her aim is to create timeless designs that invite interaction, evoke emotion, and form a meaningful connection between the user and the material world.
