Raihanah Zarah Lubbe

Design Academy of Fashion

My name is Raihanah Zarah Lubbe and I’m a 20-year-old fashion designer based in Cape Town, South Africa. I completed my fashion foundation program in November 2024 and have been building my skills independently ever since, focusing on pattern making, garment construction, and drafting. My fashion language is dark-maximalist and archival.I’m drawn to fashion that feels considered, layered, and intentional. This sensibility runs through everything I create, from my design work to the way I research and document inspiration. I’m particularly passionate about upcycling and garment reconstruction, working with existing pieces to create something entirely new. My approach is rooted in the belief that nothing is waste and everything is source material. Alongside my design practice, I am working towards personal styling, curating looks and helping others develop their visual identity. I’m also developing a strong interest in visual merchandising and window display design, an area that connects naturally to my archival taste and eye for composition. Beyond fashion, I am pursuing all seven CFI certification programs, expanding my knowledge across finance and investment to build a well-rounded professional foundation. I believe that understanding business and finance is just as important as creative skill for building a sustainable career in the industry. I am self-directed, constantly learning, and building a creative practice entirely on my own terms.
