I’m Kathir Senthil, an industrial design student at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. My practice lies at the intersection of furniture design, sustainability, and the everyday rhythms of Indian street life. I’m particularly drawn to working with natural materials and exploring how design can respond meaningfully to informal contexts and local craft practices. I believe that good design is not just about solving problems — it’s about observing people, respecting materials, and creating with empathy. Kooral, my submission for Only Natural 2025, is a collapsible bamboo bench designed for mobile food vendors. It reflects my ongoing interest in designing for flexibility, mobility, and human comfort in public spaces. The project is a response to real-world observations — and a reminder that small, thoughtful interventions can make a meaningful impact.
