Boyu Jiang

Boyu (Jade) Jiang is a designer and material researcher working across textile science, bio-composite research and hands-on craft. Currently studying MA/MSc Innovation Design Engineering at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, following a BA in Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, her practice centres on building material systems from single renewable sources. She works directly with raw fibre, processing, weaving, tufting and binding it into structural and surface applications, letting the behaviour of the material guide the form it takes. For her, material choice is where responsible design begins, and she is drawn to materials that can age, be repaired and return to the earth.
