Maria Tarasyuk

Khmelnytskyi National University

My name is Mariia Tarasiuk, and I am a student at the Faculty of Technology and Design. Creativity has always been at the center of my life and has shaped both my personal growth and professional aspirations. From an early age, I was passionate about drawing, imagining new possibilities, and turning ideas into tangible creations. At the age of ten, I began studying at an art school, where I developed a strong artistic foundation and learned to express my vision through design. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career dedicated to creativity, innovation, and meaningful design. Recently, I founded my own clothing brand, which is steadily growing and evolving. Through this project, I aim to combine aesthetics, functionality, and responsibility. My vision extends beyond creating visually appealing products—I am committed to developing designs that contribute to a more sustainable future. As the fashion industry faces increasing environmental challenges, I believe designers have a responsibility to create products that minimize harm to the planet and encourage conscious consumption. In 2026, I plan to submit one of my works and continue expanding my knowledge, skills, and creative practice. I see every project as an opportunity to learn, innovate, and make a positive impact. I am confident that this is only the beginning of my journey, and I look forward to bringing many more ideas to life through thoughtful and sustainable design. My goal is not only to create products but also to inspire others through creativity, purpose, and a commitment to positive change.

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

The "Born on the Sun" denim ensemble is an eco-conscious fashion project designed by Maria Tarasiuk at Khmelnytskyi National University. The entire look is crafted from 100% cotton denim, cotton threads, and metal hardware to ensure biodegradability and easy recycling. Handcrafted fabric bow fasteners replace standard plastic hardware on the jacket, aligning the visual design with a zero-plastic philosophy. The "Born on the Sun" ensemble is a poetic dialogue between sunlight and fabric. The concept is rooted in the idea of "drawing with light," where the sun acts as the artist, developing delicate botanical shadows onto white denim through the historical cyanotype process. This project challenges the harmful practices of the modern textile industry by replacing toxic dyes with solar energy and water. Every element — from the sun-drenched floral prints to the handcrafted fabric bows — represents a return to nature and a commitment to a plastic-free future. It is fashion created by the sun, for a sustainable tomorrow.
