Michal Rezoni

Academy of Art University

Michal Rezoni Designer | Author | Sustainable Fashion Researcher Michal Rezoni is a multidisciplinary designer whose work bridges fashion history, material innovation, and cultural storytelling. With background spanning embroidery, construction design, and real estate development, her practice centers on reimagining systems of value whether in buildings, textiles, or narratives. As an MFA student in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University, Rezoni’s thesis project, Iconic Threads Reimagined, reconstructs historically significant garments from the late nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century using repurposed denim and reclaimed silk. Her work investigates sustainability not as aesthetic trend, but as a critical design methodology that challenges material hierarchies and redefines contemporary luxury. Extending her research beyond garment construction, Rezoni is also the author and illustrator of Miri and Jade's New Clothes, an award-recognized children’s book that introduces young readers to textile waste, reuse, and creative transformation. Through both fashion and narrative, her work advocates for environmental responsibility grounded in historical awareness and material integrity. Rezoni lives and works in California with her husband and longtime creative collaborator, Assaf Rezoni. Their twin daughters, now in college, remain an enduring inspiration for her commitment to sustainable practice and intergenerational dialogue.
