Polytechnic University of Milan
Francesco Cianfano is a designer and researcher working at the intersection of product design and biodesign within the Material Design for Transition research group at Politecnico di Milano, led by Valentina Rognoli. A recent graduate with honors in Integrated Product Design from Politecnico di Milano, he is currently continuing his research on Tessitura Calcarea: Bio-induced Mineralization for Material-driven Design Opportunities, which explores recycled concrete and textile waste as valuable resources through biologically driven processes. His work embraces a materials-driven design approach grounded in ecological thinking, with a focus on circularity and regenerative practices. Through speculative and experimental methodologies, he investigates the potential of biodesign to rethink conventional product design paradigms. His research interests include biofabrication, waste valorization, and the integration of biological processes in design.
