I am a conscious print textile designer driven by a commitment to sustainability, cultural preservation, and innovation in surface design. My creative practice centers around the fusion of traditional heritage arts with contemporary aesthetics, producing textiles that are not only visually striking but also ethically and environmentally responsible. With a background that bridges fine art and technology, I specialize in translating cultural narratives into modern, functional designs tailored for luxury interior spaces. As the founder of Susdecor, established in 2025, I lead the design and production of bespoke, high-quality textile and craft products for corporate and commercial interiors. Rooted in Sri Lankan artistry and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Susdecor celebrates sustainable materials, ethical processes, and the empowerment of artisan communities. Each piece we create reflects a deep respect for tradition while pushing the boundaries of design innovation. My academic and professional journey includes extensive experience at the Winchester School of Art, where I developed a textile collection inspired by Sri Lankan arts and crafts for high-end hotel interiors. This body of work blended ancient motifs with contemporary applications through techniques such as collagraphy, Indian block printing, sublimation, and laser cutting—resulting in richly textured fabrics that embody cultural storytelling and sustainability. Additionally, I designed a conceptual tableware collection for Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, inspired by abstract floral conversations. This project further reinforced my passion for translating fine art into functional design solutions. With a global perspective and a passion for meaningful design, I aim to redefine luxury textiles through a lens of cultural integrity, innovation, and sustainability.
