Juliette Ferens

Fashion Institute of Technology

My name is Juliette Ferens, and I love to design. Born and raised in New York City, I’ve been captivated by fashion since childhood—forever asking, “How was that made?” as I walked past the windows of 5th Avenue. With roots in Odessa and Tashkent—once part of the Soviet Union—I’ve been fortunate to learn resilience, creativity, and craftsmanship from three generations of my family. Their support has fueled my passion and shaped my identity as a designer. After graduating from the High School of Fashion Industries, I earned my Associate and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in Knitwear. My work merges traditional handcraft with innovative techniques, exploring sustainability, inclusivity, and storytelling through textile embroidery, upcycling, and machine knitting. I’ve interned and worked with brands such as Kobi Halperin, Isobel & Cleo, and Shahar Avnet, gaining hands-on experience across ready-to-wear, couture, special occasion, and knitwear design. From creating tech packs and embroidery layouts to prepping garments for runway and retail, I thrive in both creative and technical environments. Since the pandemic, I’ve also expanded into social media strategy, video editing, and digital content creation—skills I use to share my process and connect with broader audiences. As I look ahead, I’m excited to keep learning and growing within the ever-evolving world of fashion. Explore my portfolio: julietteferens.myportfolio.com

Bogenya - The Goddess

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2025

Bogenya is a tactile exploration of ancestry, resilience, and renewal—rooted in natural materials and the language of the body. Designed exclusively with natural fibers, this collection embodies a state of emotional and spiritual “transe,” where memory and movement converge. Drawing from my Jewish-Soviet heritage and deeply personal experiences, Bogenya weaves together trauma and transformation through hand-knitting, recycled pearls, and Braille embroidery. Each piece speaks to healing: from the chaos of inherited history to the order of craft. The use of deadstock yarn, undyed wools, and plant-based dyes further underscores a return to origin—an honoring of what is real, raw, and alive. Bogenya is not just a collection; it is a sensory ritual of grounding and becoming.
