Vanshika Kayan

Pearl Academy

I am Vanshika Kayan, as a designer creative expression has always been a part of who I am, and fashion became the language through which I could channel my ideas, emotions, and inspirations. Over the years, studying fashion has taught me to look beyond clothing as just garments. It has given me the space to explore, experiment, and grow both technically and creatively.I believe fashion should be thoughtful, personal, and rooted in authenticity. I am constantly learning, observing, and pushing myself to evolve—not just as a designer but also as an individual who wants to contribute something meaningful to the world through creativity.

NATURE FRACTURE

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2025

My concept is inspired by the timeless philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which finds quiet beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and the raw, honest textures of nature. In a world that often chases flawless finishes, this approach reminds us that true beauty lies in what is incomplete and worn by time. At the heart of this vision is the revival of Sunni embroidery — a delicate, traditional craft that once flowed through the skilled hands of my mother and generations before her. Over time, this precious heritage has faded, losing its essence in the rush of modern life. Through my streetwear collection, I strive to breathe new life into this lost art, stitching my story into every thread and reconnecting with the roots that ground me. By blending Wabi-Sabi with Sunni embroidery, each piece in the collection becomes more than fabric — it transforms into a living tribute to my culture and my mother’s legacy. The handwoven textures, imperfect stitches, and naturally dyed colors echo the soulful beauty of things left unfinished and the memories carried within them. This project is my journey of returning home — to my people, my craft, and the stories once whispered by needle and thread. It is a celebration of tradition and a gentle reminder that what is imperfect can be the most honest, resilient, and beautiful of all. Through this streetwear collection, I hope to share a quiet, heartfelt message: our roots may fade, but they can always be revived, one stitch at a time.
