Score' was a project I recently completed in collaboration with Bill Amberg Studio and The Leathersellers. The premise was to explore new found methods of working with leather. Taking inspiration from the primitive technique of hot water forming and combining with scoring of the material, this new found method both embraces the material properties of leather and gives a new perspective of process. The work explored the notion of how a single scored line could inform shape and structure whilst balancing control of the material with it's natural properties. The vessels created during this project both act as functional objects as well as physical explorations into this new found material process, embracing the possibilities of leather as more than a surface material.
